At The It’s All Relative House ‘Off The Rails’ was one of those shows we hated to miss..I mean who doesn’t love a good before and after moment? Makeover shows were all the rage and Ireland’s answer to this was RTE’s Entertainment Staple ‘Off The Rails’. During its run on RTE it was originally presented by Pamela Flood & Caroline Morahan before the fabulous Brendan Courtney & Sonya Lennon took over.
The show taught the women of Ireland to be stylish and kept us posted on the latest trends. They also taught us that you should dress for your body shape so there were plenty of reasons to tune into ‘Off The Rails’!
Brendan meet Sonya Lennon and the two had a chemistry on screen that rivaled Ant & Dec! But somewhat more refined and stylish all the same. They also shared a great friendship off screen. However Brendan reveals in an interview with Goss.ie that he was glad when ‘Off The Rails’ finished. ‘It was done for me’ he tells editor Ali Ryan.
Brendan admits that it was ‘all getting a bit mammy for me’. He laughs explaining that after eight seasons everyone knew the message that the presenters were trying to get across.
‘Wear the right sized bra, don’t be afraid of magic knickers and have confidence in yourself!’. He laughs and tells us that not only did the mammies of Ireland all know this by now but their daughters did too and their daughters daughters! It was the right time for the show to come to an end.
Brendan reveals proudly that he is a feminist ‘I am aware women get a raw deal’ he states. He says that he was happy, his job was in part, distracting the women of Ireland from a bad day or a week and make them feel pretty instead of worrying.
Even after the hit TV Show, he is still doing that now, with former co- presenter and Stylist Sonya Lennon! They have a best selling collection available nationwide in Dunnes Stores. Brendan and Sonya have also created a clever app available for all you fashionable ladies out there called Frockadviser.
We wish you all the luck in the world with your future endeavors and it was a pleasure to meet you Brendan. You never fail to make us laugh!
Keep on making Ireland a more stylish place and we must say we love the Lennon Courtney range! Fab 🙂 ❤
